Gov. Edwards' Statement on IBM Meeting Hiring Targets

Statement

Date: Aug. 28, 2019

Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards released the following statement on IBM's Client Innovation Center in Baton Rouge meeting its hiring targets and making significant hiring progress in 2019.

"Two years ago, we renegotiated our contract with IBM to provide time and opportunity for the company to reach its ultimate employment goal," said Gov. Edwards. "The company has now accomplished that goal, and just as important as that achievement is the manner in which IBM has engaged with our universities, our community colleges, our high schools and the broader community. The company has hired 600 graduates of Louisiana colleges, and these professional employees are working on the most challenging tasks of tomorrow with numerous clients, solving challenges in cybersecurity, health care, law enforcement and many other critically important fields. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with IBM in Baton Rouge and throughout Louisiana."
