Location: Ottowa, IL
Issues: Veterans

This week, Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-Channahon) recognized five local veterans with the Congressional Commendation award during a ceremony at the Illinois Valley Community College.

In addition to submitting a statement for the Congressional Record, Congressman Kinzinger released the following statement on this annual event:

"As a Member of Congress and veteran, I value the time I get to spend with the generation of veterans who paved the way for me. And on top of that, I have the honor and privilege of presenting the Congressional Commendation to veterans like Thomas Cleland, Neil Dreier, Stephen Koppenhoefer, Leo McCauley, and Edward Stash. These are the kind of heroes that we need, people who stepped up to selflessly serve our country in uniform and then continued to serve by being active in their own community.

"I'm humbled to represent these outstanding citizens, and to celebrate all who have served our country and put their lives on the line to protect this great nation and the freedoms we enjoy today. The Congressional Commendation is a special recognition, and on behalf of the 16th Congressional District of Illinois, I want to say thank you to these American heroes for their record of dedicated service and commitment to our country and our community."
