GI bill Senate companion intro'd

Press Release

Allowing veterans and their families to use the GI bill to pay for preparatory courses for professional license and certification exams is gaining support. U.S. Senators Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) and Mike Rounds (R-South Dakota) introduced a Senate companion to my legislation expanding GI bill benefits in that way. The GI Bill Access to Career Credentials Act, H.R. 2934 in the House and now S. 2345 in the Senate, helps veterans and eligible family members get into nursing, teaching and other careers requiring government-recognized licenses and certifications by making it easier for them to pass the necessary tests. I piggybacked H.R. 2934 on a larger bill, H.R. 3504, and it passed the House in July unanimously. Senators Hirono and Rounds' support is especially important because both serve on the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee to which H.R. 3504 is referred. Thank you, Senators Hirono and Rounds.
