Today, U.S. Senator Tom Udall issued the following statement on the death of Ernestine Romero in a shooting in Santa Fe:

"Ernestine Romero was a tremendously talented musician, a dedicated state employee, and a beloved member of our community. This is a devastating loss for New Mexico, and my heart goes out to her family and loved ones.

"As we come together to mourn this tragedy, we remain forever grateful for the indelible mark Ernestine left on all of us. Her powerful voice will live on through her music, which was deeply rooted in Santa Fe and New Mexico, just like her life.
