We introduced legislation on Tuesday to fix the Medicaid "cliff" the insular areas face, when Obamacare money runs out this year. The Energy and Commerce Committee is fast-tracking the bill to report it to the House this month. H.R. 3631 provides the Marianas $360 million over six years -- $60 million per year, exactly what Marianas Medicaid Director Helen Sablan requested. No local match is required, as we recover from last year's typhoons. After six years we will get the best federal-local match any state is offered.
