Rep. Titus Votes to Raise the Minimum Wage

Today Representative Dina Titus of Nevada's First Congressional District celebrated the House passage of the Raise the Wage Act. The legislation would gradually raise the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $15 by 2025 and index future increases in the federal minimum wage to median wage growth to ensure the value of minimum wage does not once again erode over time.

An independent analysis concluded that gradually raising the minimum wage to $15/hour would raise wages for up to 184,500 workers in Nevada's First Congressional District or 53.4% of the total workforce in the district -- the second largest share of workers who would get a raise anywhere in the country.

"Workers in Las Vegas and across the country deserve a raise," said Congresswoman Titus (NV-1). "Too many workers struggle to pay rent and put food on the table. One job should be enough to make ends meet in this country. It is disgraceful that Senate Republicans are working with Donald Trump to keep paychecks low for most workers while giving tax cuts to the rich."
