Statement

Date: July 23, 2019
Location: Washington D.C.
Issues: Defense

U.S. Senator David Perdue (R-GA), chairman of the Senate Armed Services Seapower Subcommittee, congratulates Dr. Mark Esper on being confirmed as President Donald J. Trump's Secretary of the Department of Defense (DoD):

"Dr. Mark Esper is immensely qualified and has already distinguished himself as Secretary of the Army under the Trump Administration. Throughout his military service and career in the private and public sectors, Dr. Esper has demonstrated the leadership necessary to implement President Trump's National Defense Strategy. Right now, the world is more dangerous than any time in my lifetime. Our women and men in uniform are navigating complex threats from China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea, in addition to terrorism, across all five domains: air, land, sea, cyber, and space. I'm confident Dr. Esper will do an excellent job leading the Pentagon as it works to protect Americans at home and abroad."
