Walden & Rodgers Statement on Full Committee Passage of Six Consumer Safety Bills

Statement

Date: July 17, 2019
Location: Washington, DC

Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Greg Walden (R-OR) and Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Commerce Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement on the passage of six consumer safety bills through the Energy and Commerce Committee.

"Today is about protecting America's consumers, families, and children -- a bipartisan priority we can all support. The six proposals we are advancing today will strengthen safety standards for products Americans use every day, including bills to help prevent infant deaths and reduce the risk of fire from portable fuel containers. Unfortunately, the FASTER Act was not among the bills considered today, even though it aims to further protect consumers by removing potentially hazardous products from the marketplace as quickly and efficiently as possible. While there remain concerns about certain proposals advanced through the Energy and Commerce Committee today, we look forward to working with our colleagues across the aisle to improve these bills before they are considered on the House floor," said Walden and Rodgers.
