Dingell on House Vote to Condemn the President's Xenophobic Tweets

Today, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI) issued the following statement after the House voted on a resolution (cosponsored by Dingell) condemning the President for xenophobic tweets:

"Fear and hatred have no place in the United States. The President should be leading, not dividing us with hatred and fear. Throughout the course of our country's history, language that is xenophobic, racist, sexist, intolerant, prejudiced, or discriminatory has divided and pitted us against each other. In my own community of Dearborn, friends and neighbors face this everyday just because of their religion. We need to remember who we are as Americans. Divided we fall, united we stand.

"We have many issues facing our country -- rising healthcare costs, infrastructure in need of repair, and bad trade deals hurting workers -- our values must lead us to come together. Distractions like the hateful tweets don't make progress on the issues we all need to work together on to deliver for working Americans."
