Maloney: Humanitarian Aid Package Isn't About Politics - It's About Right and Wrong

Location: Washington, DC

Today, the United States House of Representatives voted to provide $4.5 billion in emergency funds to address the humanitarian crisis at the southern border. This comes after a new report from the Associated Press outlining the U.S. Border Patrol's negligent care of migrant children at a Texas border station. The nightmarish conditions outlined in the report include disturbing descriptions of poor sanitation, malnutrition, and inadequate medical care for child refugees detained by the Border Patrol.

Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney voted in support of humanitarian assistance package. His statement is below:

"I won't stand by as children are abused to further the Trump Administration's policies. This isn't about politics - it's about right and wrong. Purposefully hurting innocent children in an attempt to deter asylum seekers is shameful, and not the America I know."
