Today, U.S. Senators Martha McSally (R-AZ) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) introduced bipartisan legislation to rein in rogue spending at the Western Area Power Administration, which delivers power from 56 hydropower plants to more than 40 million people in 15 states.

The Western Area Power Administration Transparency Act would require the administrator of the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) to establish a pilot project to increase the transparency of WAPA's costs and rates.

"Consumers deserve to know exactly why their energy costs what it costs," said McSally. "The purpose of WAPA is to deliver affordable hydropower to Arizonans so that our economy can thrive. This bill holds WAPA accountable for their spending, so that any waste can be immediately identified and we can keep prices low."

"Arizonans deserve a government that works for them, free of waste, fraud, and abuse. Our bipartisan bill strengthens transparency and accountability at this vital agency," said Sinema.
