Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (tx-29): Special Counsel Mueller Could Not Exonerate President Trump; Congress Must Investigate

Statement

Date: June 29, 2019
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) released the following statement on the remarks Special Counsel Mueller gave this morning:

"After his press conference this morning, I believe that Special Counsel Mueller needs to testify before Congress, and I continue to call on Attorney General Barr to release the full, unredacted report to Congress."

"In his remarks today, the Special Counsel made it clear that Congress is the proper authority to make determinations on whether the President is guilty of obstruction of justice," said Rep. Garcia. "Congress must act now to exercise its constitutional duty for the American people to protect the rule of law and fully investigate the allegations of obstruction, corruption, and abuse of power that the Special Counsel did not have the authority to make determinations on."

Congresswoman Garcia continued, "This is not about one party or president, but this is about the Constitution and the adherence to the rule of law. At this critical time for our nation, it is imperative that we meet our responsibility to fully investigate these matters for the public to have all the facts they are entitled to."
