Blumenauer Passes Seven Key Provisions in Seven Days

Congressman Earl Blumenauer (OR-03), a senior member of the Ways and Means Committee, celebrated the House of Representatives passing seven provisions he authored in as many days in session.

Blumenauer was able to successfully incorporate his legislation into a broader federal funding bill this past week. These passed amendments would protect state and tribal cannabis laws from federal interference, fight off-shore drilling and timber logging in national forests, deny importation of trophy hunted animals from Africa, and fund the Estacada Job Corps center in Oregon, a center that trains young Oregonians to fight forest fires, which the Trump administration fought to close.

In addition, the House this week passed the SAFE Act, legislation to protect America's federal elections from foreign interference, which included Congressman Blumenauer's provision to mandate paper ballots in all federal elections--an initiative pioneered by Oregon.

"This is a great success for Oregon values," said Rep. Blumenauer. "Our progressive vision for the future saw real progress in the House this past week. We saw resounding victories on the House floor on some key issues that matter to us all. I will continue fighting for our values at the national level and make sure that we deliver for Oregon."
