Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement after multiple peaceful protesters were killed in Sudan:

"The Transitional Military Council must stop all violence against the Sudanese people and commit to a timely transition of power to a civilian-led government. The Sudanese people have the right to democratic governance, and to be free from oppression and violence. Millions of Sudanese citizens have risked their lives to participate in a peaceful movement to support a civilian-led government in Sudan. I am deeply saddened by these deaths and strongly condemn violence by the Sudanese military."
