Gardner Continues Push for Space Command to Come to Colorado

Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO), applauded the official notification today from the Secretary of the Air Force to consider Colorado as a potential location for the new United States Space Command. The Air Force expects the Strategic Basing Decision for U.S. Space Command to be approved during the summer of 2019. Four out of the six locations listed as confirmed candidates to host the headquarters are in Colorado; Buckley Air Force Base, Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, Peterson Air Force Base, and Schriever Air Force Base.

"Colorado is proud to support our nation's military space operations today and into the future, the signing of this memo today is great news for our state," said Senator Gardner. "I look forward to reviewing the Administration's proposal for expanded space operation and development. Colorado is uniquely positioned to support the new Space Command headquarters and it is my hope that the continued expansion of military space operations will ensure the United States maintains its position as the global leader in space."
