Today, Representative Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) announced a federal investment of more than $2.3 million for Head Start and Early Head Start Programs in New York's 18th Congressional District. This investment will support early education and development services for low-income children operated by Head Start of Eastern Orange County. Since joining Congress, Rep. Maloney has announced nearly $11 million in federal Health and Human Services (HHS) investments for Head Start programs in the Hudson Valley.

"As a dad to three kids, I know how important -- and expensive -- childcare and early education can be," said Rep. Maloney. "That's why I am proud to announce another big investment in the Hudson Valley's Head Start programs. Getting our kids off on the right foot is the best way to set them up for success. All children deserve that chance -- regardless of background or income level."

"Head Start of Eastern Orange County is excited to receive this funding as we begin the first year of a 5 year grant award," said Ann Pagliaro, Executive Director of Head Start of Eastern Orange County. "Our continued funding will ensure low-income preschool children have access to high-quality early childhood education services and an opportunity to be successful scholars in kindergarten. We thank Congressman Maloney for his continued support of the Federal Head Start program"

Head Start and Early Head Start programs provide comprehensive child development programs for children from birth to age five, pregnant women, and families. The programs focus on preparing children for school.
