Palazzo Signs Discharge Petition to Protect Abortion Survivors

Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4) today released the following statement after signing a discharge petition to demand a vote on HR 962, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

"Today, I signed this discharge petition with no hesitation. It is beyond reason why Democrats continue to promote infanticide and deny basic human rights to the most defenseless in our society. This is a commonsense bill that should not be up for debate. Newborns who survive horrific abortions deserve an equal chance at life."

House Republicans have requested unanimous consent for the bill 25 times, each request being blocked by House Democrats.

A discharge petition in the House, if signed by a simple majority of 218 members of the House, would discharge a bill out of the committee and move it directly to the House floor for a vote.

Palazzo is one of 187 cosponsor of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
