Perry, House Republicans Demand Vote to End Infanticide

Press Release

Date: April 3, 2019
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Abortion

Congressman Scott Perry supported a Republican initiative to protect babies born alive following failed abortions. House Republicans will offer a Discharge Petition requiring 218 signatures to force a vote on the H.R. 962 the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act -- which Perry signed. The move comes after the House Democrats blocked 25 previous procedural motions calling for the bill to be considered.

"Pennsylvanians saw the horrific abuses by abortionist Kermit Gosnell. There's no excuse for murdering children after they're born; the very notion is abhorrent. The Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act is about basic human decency, and is a common sense, bipartisan bill. I'm proud to support the Discharge Petition and hope everyone makes the effort to pass the bill," said Perry.

The Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act requires children surviving abortion to be given the same medical care of children born alive at the same gestational age. Practitioners that fail to comply with the law could face five years in prison if convicted.
