Congressman Lamborn's Statement on the President's Executive Order Regarding EMPs and Cyber Security

Statement

Location: Washington, DC

On March 26, President Trump signed the "Executive Order on Coordinating National Resilience to Electromagnetic Pulses" to ensure U.S. critical infrastructure is protecting against a weaponized electromagnetic pulse (EMP) or cyber attack.

Congressman Doug Lamborn, co-chair of the Congressional EMP Caucus, issued the following statement:
"President Trump's executive order coordinating an all-of-government approach led by the White House to protect our critical infrastructure is an excellent example of decisive leadership. The problem and the threats have been studied and understood for decades, but national leaders have failed to act. Taking measures to safeguard our electric grid, without which our civilization can't function, should not have taken this long but this administration is finally getting the job done. With the White House and National Security Council spear-heading efforts across the executive branch, including the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Interior, Commerce, and Energy, I think we're heading in the right direction. The decades of hard work by patriots like those working on the Congressional EMP Commission have made a difference, and rogue states and near-peer competitors will soon be disincentivized from targeting our Achilles heel: the civilian electric grid."
