Following NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg's address to Members of Congress today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) released the following statement:
"For 70 years, NATO has worked to preserve the security of the United States and our transatlantic allies, and our nation has been a key leader in this mission. I was glad to hear Secretary General Stoltenberg today reaffirm NATO's commitment to the values that unite us: promoting democracy and international peace.
"As we address emerging national security threats, it is vital the United States continues its strong leadership in NATO. We are at a time in our nation's history where we face a new landscape of quickly evolving threats, from the threat of political interference and nuclear escalation from Russia to the terrorism threats ISIS and other groups still pose in the Middle East and beyond. While the Trump Administration has too often wavered in its support for NATO and cozied up to our adversaries, I hope that today's address reinforces the critical role NATO plays in protecting Americans at home and abroad. Security at home depends on our relationship with our allies."
