Brooks Votes Against Socialist Democrat Bill that Declares Some Men Are Women

Thursday, Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) voted "No" on H.R. 1585, the so-called Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act that, among other things, declares that some men are women. The bill passed the House 263-158.

Congressman Brooks said, "It is repugnant how often Socialist Democrats abuse the English language by giving legislation a name that so often does the exact opposite of what the name suggests. Such is the case with their radical and deeply flawed "Violence Against Women Act' ("VAWA"). VAWA is a cornucopia of radical policies that hurt more than help women. In sum, this radical legislation undermines the Right to Bear Arms, Due Process, biology, and religion while promoting open borders and illegal aliens. Such is "work' in a House of Representatives ruled by radical Socialists like Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez."

Brooks continued, "VAWA denies Due Process and the 2nd Amendment Right to Bear Arms by prohibiting firearm possession by citizens before they have been charged or convicted of a crime.[1] VAWA forces prisons to house dangerous men prisoners with women prisoners anytime a man claims to be a woman.[2] This policy has resulted in multiple rapes of defenseless women prisoners in other countries.[3] Even worse, VAWA forces domestic abuse shelters to house men among domestically abused women whenever a man claims he is a woman![4] These policies are nuts!"

Brooks continued, "Faith-based groups are among the most adept at providing assistance to abuse victims. VAWA opens the door to lawsuits against faith-based groups that accept VAWA grant money and hire men as men and women as women in accord with their firmly-held religious beliefs. Worse yet, VAWA criminals evicted from government-funded housing are allowed to keep their housing if they claim (falsely or not) that they are victims of domestic violence."[5]

Brooks concluded, "Finally, VAWA promotes open borders and illegal aliens over the interests of Americans by encouraging illegal aliens to falsely claim domestic abuse in order to jump in front of all other legal immigrants in the pursuit of green cards.[6] Encouraging even more illegal immigration is irresponsible and the very last thing America needs considering that illegal aliens and porous borders already cost American taxpayers a net annual $116 billion annual loss and kill 30,000+ Americans each year."
