This week, Rep. Brad Wenstrup signed a discharge petition filed by House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) and Rep. Ann Wagner (R-Mo.) on H.R. 962, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, with the intent of forcing a floor vote on the life-saving legislation.
"I cannot imagine anyone, especially a doctor, could stand over a living breathing human being and not take care of him or her. A child born alive after an attempted abortion should be given the same level of care as any other child at the same gestational age. This should not be something we need to legislate, but after a grotesque abortion law was passed in New York and another was introduced in Virginia, sadly, it is. I am deeply disappointed that Democrats have denied over 25 requests to vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. Despite their unwillingness to even hold a vote, we are now one step closer to House consideration of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act." said Congressman Brad Wenstrup.
