Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (FL-26), member of the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and the Everglades Caucus, voted via voice vote to advance several bipartisan measures to the floor of the House for final passage, including legislation to ensure Coast Guard members receive their pay in case of a future government shutdown, and legislation to require a report on the threats of climate change on Coast Guard installations.

"Advocating for our Coast Guard and fighting the devastating effects of climate change will always be my priority, and today I'm proud that two of my votes were to ensure our hard-working Coast Guard's pay isn't held hostage by Washington politics and to prepare our installations against the threat of climate change," said Mucarsel-Powell."Additionally, I am proud to have voted for greater disaster assistance, to improve our aviation safety, and to protect our sources of local water from pollution and toxic chemicals. I am eager for these bills to receive the same bipartisan support when they pass soon."

Mucarsel-Powell also voted for the Aviation Funding Stability Act, Notice to Airmen Improvement Act, Federal Disaster Assistance Coordination Act, Post-Disaster Assistance Online Accountability Act, legislation to amend the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief, the Emergency Assistance Act to ensure that unmet needs after a major disaster are met, and the Local Water Protection Act.
