U.S. Senators Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) and Bob Casey (D-Pa.) today applauded Stephanie Haines, a nominee for the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing for her nomination today.

"I enthusiastically support Ms. Haines's confirmation," Senator Toomey said at this morning's Judiciary Committee hearing. "I am confident that she has the essential qualities needed to excel as a federal judge, which are experience, intelligence, integrity, and respect for the limited role of the judiciary in our constitutional system."

"As an Assistant United States Attorney, Stephanie Haines has gained significant trial experience that will serve her well on the federal bench," said Senator Casey. "I am thankful for her willingness to continue serving the public and her hometown of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and I am confident that she has the integrity and independence needed to serve in this new role."

President Trump nominated Ms. Haines upon the joint recommendation of Senators Toomey and Casey. She will fill a vacant judicial seat in Johnstown, Pa.

Since 2011, Senators Toomey and Casey have worked together, in a bipartisan fashion, to fill vacancies on the federal bench in Pennsylvania. Together they have vetted, recommended, and confirmed 18 Federal District Court Judges for Pennsylvania. Only two states - California and New York - have had more district court judges confirmed to their federal benches during this time.
