Rep. Richmond Statement on Fema Grant Announcement for The State of Louisiana

Today, Congressman Cedric Richmond (LA-02) issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announcing its latest Federal grant for Louisiana:

"I am proud of the commitment FEMA has displayed to Louisiana, namely in and around North Baton Rouge," said Rep. Richmond. "Recovery and rebuilding is never an easy or swift process. This grant will help will not only aid in recovery efforts, but is also designed for better protection of our infrastructure in the future. I am pleased that Southern University will benefit from the over five million dollars of aid from FEMA, and I will continue to fight for all the recovery funding we need."

The Southern University and Road Improvements grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will fund improve erosion prevention and will also protect the main utility hub for the campus by providing new roadways directly following state and federal guidelines. Area drainage systems will also be improved. FEMA has granted $5,621,569.50 in federal funding for the project covering 75% of the total cost.
