Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-NY17/Rockland-Westchester), House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman, issued the following statement on the Trump Administration's plans to institute an unconstitutional Domestic Gag Rule, which would deny access to comprehensive family planning for millions of Americans and continue an assault on Planned Parenthood:

"The Trump Administration's Domestic Gag Rule is an attack on the four million Americans who rely on federal Title X family planning funding for access to birth control and reproductive health services, with direct aim on those who rely on Planned Parenthood for care.

"Make no mistake about it, this unconstitutional violation on the freedom of speech of physicians would undermine the doctor-patient relationship, jeopardize public health, and continue the Administration's assault on women's health. That is why major medical groups, including the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, have raised the alarm on the danger of a Domestic Gag Rule and have opposed this terrible policy."
