Congresswoman Gwen Moore (WI-4) is releasing the following statement regarding the loss of funding for Planned Parenthood in Wisconsin and other states:
"The Trump Administration's appetite for hurting vulnerable people, especially women, won't cease, but neither will our resolve to fight to restore funding to the crucial services provided by Planned Parenthood. There is no justification for Trump to take away direct grantee funding in Wisconsin or any of the other states that didn't make the Health and Human Services Title X fiscal year 2019 grantee list, which was released on a Friday afternoon to deliberately blindside those directly impacted by the family planning services provided by Planned Parenthood. This is an egregious attempt to hurt the country by targeting working class people," Rep. Moore said.
"And, this comes on the heels of the administration finalizing the Title X domestic gag rule and accusations of wrong-doing by HHS. This is not leadership, just another heavy-handed push to further divide the country on ideological grounds and yet another blatant attack on access health care for Americans," the Congresswoman said.
Other states where Planned Parenthood affiliates were of the Title X FY19 grantee list include; Hawaii, North Carolina and Virginia.
