Bishop Votes AGAIN to Uphold 2nd Amendment

The House of Representatives voted on HR 1112, the Enhanced Background Checks Act of 2019. Rep. Rob Bishop (UT-01) voted against the bill and issued the statement below following his vote:

"This legislation is a fundamental dismissal of the 2ndAmendment. The removal of this protective provision opens the door to arbitrary bureaucratic delays which can do nothing but restrict a basicAmerican right."

On February 27, 2019, the House of Representatives voted on HR 8. Rep. Rob Bishop (UT-01) voted against the legislation andissued the statement below:

"This bill addresses a fabricated threat and makes criminals out of the innocent. This equates to nothing more than a false sense of security promoted by those who refuse to address real threats to safety. Congress should turn its attention to finding ways to protect society from criminals. Instead, this farcical effort betrays the 2nd Amendment and would have done nothing to prevent the tragic mass shootings of recent years. Safety ought to trump politics and politics ought never trump the Constitution."
