Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after the Federal Highway Administration announced a $10 million Emergency Relief grant for 8 congressional districts in Tennessee to assist with immediate recovery needs in the aftermath of widespread flooding that has affected portions of the state:

"East Tennessee was devastated by storms and subsequent flooding last month, and I am pleased to see the Trump administration acting quickly to ensure our state has the resources it needs to repair the damages these storms wrought. In the First District alone we saw several instances of severe road damage from flooding and landslides, and I'm grateful to the first responders and emergency crews that have worked to restore this critical infrastructure. This grant is just an initial downpayment on what will be needed over the long-term, and I know state officials are working tirelessly to assess the overall damage. I will continue working with Governor Lee and the rest of the delegation to ensure we have the resources we need to rebuild our communities. "

Note: On March 15, 2019, the DOT announced a $10 million grant for Tennessee to be used for repairing federal highways and roads resulting from the natural disasters that occurred in February and March 2019. Click here to read more about the grant.
