Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), released the following statement on the inclusion in the FY19 Appropriations bill of $650 million in Amtrak Northeast Corridor, a significant portion of which will fund the Gateway Tunnel Project. The bill passed Congress last night and was signed into law by the President today.

"In addition to averting another unnecessary shutdown, the FY19 Appropriations bill we passed last night includes $650 million in Amtrak Northeast Corridor funding, a significant portion of which will fund the Gateway Tunnel Project, and reverses a Trump Administration decision to bar states from accessing federal loans to cover their share of funding. The Gateway Tunnel Project is the most important transportation infrastructure project in the country and ties together the economic engine that is the New York City region. Keeping this project on track is vital, and I'm pleased we were able to have this vital funding included."
