HULSHOF APPLAUDS DECISION TO ABANDON FSA CLOSURE PLAN
WASHINGTON, DC. - - The following is a statement from U.S. Congressman Kenny Hulshof:
"I am pleased that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has decided to abandon its ill-conceived 'FSA Tomorrow' plan. The plan, which would have closed FSA offices, without the input of those on the ground, would have been extremely detrimental to the family farmers who depend upon the services offered at their local FSA office.
"As I have stated in the past, the federal government must continue to look for ways to streamline services and strive for cost-savings wherever possible. However, the 'FSA Tomorrow' plan would have placed undue burden on our nation's farmers. This plan was neither efficient nor wise.
"Decisions regarding important services upon which our farmers depend should be made by people who understand the needs of farmers. This was not the case here.
"I applaud the USDA's decision to immediately drop this bad idea."
