Thune: All Babies Have a Right to Life

Statement

U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) today issued the following statement after Democrats voted down a measure that would protect infants who are born alive during abortions.

"This is a common-sense measure that we all should be able to get behind -- a bill that simply declares that any infant born alive during an abortion is entitled to medical care. Democrats have swung so far to the left that they cannot even bring themselves to affirm that babies born alive should be protected. To put it frankly, what Democrats are supporting is radical and horrific. Babies born alive during a botched abortion should be given the same basic medical care that would be afforded any other newborn. I will continue to fight against the injustices of abortion and infanticide until we can ensure that every child is protected."
