Cooper Appointed Chairman of Strategic Forces

Statement

U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper (TN-05) announced today his appointment as chairman of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee (HASC).

In his role as chairman, Cooper will be responsible for overseeing America's vast nuclear arsenal, space programs, ballistic missile defense, national intelligence programs and Department of Energy national security programs.

"It is an honor to be appointed chairman of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee," Rep. Cooper said. "I look forward to leading this important work and keeping America safe from external and internal threats."

In addition to the Strategic Forces Subcommittee, Cooper will serve on the Seapower & Projection Forces Subcommittee and the Intelligence, Emerging Threats & Capabilities Subcommittee. The full HASC committee is chaired by Representative Adam Smith (WA).

Cooper has also been reappointed to the House Committee on Oversight and Reform (COR).
