Congressman Markwayne Mullin (OK-2) released the following statement after Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E) announced it would acquire the Shady Point plant located near Poteau:

"This is welcome news for Oklahoma's consumers and the greater Poteau community," said Mullin. "This outcome keeps the doors open at Shady Point, lowers utility rates for OG&E consumers, and continues the effort to reduce power plant emissions. Oklahoma and Arkansas's consumers and workforce have much to gain. Congratulations to all involved on an amicable solution that puts people first."
