United States Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) released the following statement after meeting this afternoon with President Donald Trump's Attorney General nominee William Barr:
"Bill Barr and I served together in the George H.W. Bush cabinet. He was confirmed by the Senate unanimously to be Attorney General in 1991. He understands that the attorney general's job is to represent the United States of America and be the people's lawyer and not the president's lawyer. He will be an excellent Attorney General. I hope he is swiftly confirmed again."
