Today, U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) released the following statement on his Anti-Semitism Awareness Act submitted as an amendment to S.1, the Strengthening America's Security in the Middle East Act:

"Earlier this month on Holocaust Memorial Day, we honored the lives lost and the sacrifices made to liberate Europe from evil, racism, and hate. Today, I want to make sure we do our due diligence in ensuring that we continue to push back on anti-Semitic harassment."

According to the Anti-Defamation League, in 2018 there were 204 reported incidents of anti-Semitic related events -- nearly doubled that of 108 in 2016. The surge in these acts can be attributed to the nationwide rise of anti-Semitic rhetoric and related occurrences.
