Davis Legislation Honoring Logan Palmer Signed Into Law

Statement

U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) announced today that legislation honoring the life and service of Petty Officer Logan Palmer was signed into law. The bill Davis introduced designates the post office in Harristown, Illinois, as the "Logan S. Palmer Post Office." Petty Officer Logan Palmer, of Harristown, Illinois, was among the sailors killed when the USS John S McCain collided with a tanker off the coast of Singapore last August.

"Logan's parents, Sid and Theresa, joined me in DC to introduce this bill six months ago and I'm so glad we were able to get this bill honoring their son signed into law this year," said Davis. "I've had the privilege of getting to know the Palmer family over the last year and I hope having the President sign this bill into law this week helps show our nation's appreciation for Logan's service and provides some solace for their family during the holidays. This building will serve as a grave reminder of risks our servicemembers take on each day and I look forward to officially renaming the post office in Harristown the "Logan S. Palmer Post Office" soon."

Davis is working with the United States Post Office to organize a dedication ceremony in the coming months.
