Issue Position

Everyone in this country has a right to high quality and equitable access free public education. Each individual needs relevant skills for work that will provide enough income to support their families and enable them to pay taxes.

We need to develop a system of lifetime learning opportunities for those who later wish to develop new skills. This will enable those with the need and desire to keep up with changes they encounter. We need to develop non-traditional learning and work opportunities in our District, targeting adults as well as the young.

We can build on successes in high tech training, skilled apprentice programs and other skill focused training areas outside traditional corporate or school models. These training programs can lead to more, better paying jobs. They help establish a workforce that is current, confident in its skills, and adaptable to future needs.
