Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2018
Issues: Senior Citizens

Nearly sixty thousand Minnesotans will turn 65 years old every year through 2030. Heather knows it is critical that Minnesota provide solutions to protect and promote the independence of Minnesota's seniors. She has promoted age-friendly communities in her work on the Edina Human Rights & Relations Commission. Heather believes we need to evolve our vision for seniors in Minnesota and that we need to fight for a support system that is comprehensive and reliable.

With this experience, at the State Capitol Heather will:

Work tirelessly to ensure seniors in our communities are protected from neglect and abuse by caregivers.

Advocate for more options for affordable housing for seniors with options for support services to maintain as much independence as our seniors choose.

Help improve access to safe, convenient, and reliable transportation with the flexibility to meet our seniors' health, social, and family goals.

Support additional financial incentives and investments in our caregiver community, including more options for family members who forgo income to take care of loved ones.
