Proclamation - Business Women's Week

WHEREAS, working women constitute 68 million of the nation's workforce and strive to serve their communities, states and nation in professional, civic and cultural capacities; and

WHEREAS, women-owned businesses account for 30 percent of all U.S. businesses, generating $1.15 trillion in sales; and

WHEREAS, since 1919, the North Dakota Federation of Business and Professional Women has been supporting working women in this state by promoting their achievements and recognizing their contributions to North Dakota's economy; and

WHEREAS, for 75 years, Business and Professional Women/USA has been working with partners in North Dakota and other states across the nation to promote equity for all women and help create enhanced social, educational, economic and political opportunities for working women.

NOW, THEREFORE, as Governor of the State of North Dakota, I do hereby proclaim October 17-21, 2005, BUSINESS WOMEN'S WEEK in the state of North Dakota.
