Governor Abbott Statement On New Record-Low Texas Unemployment

Statement

Governor Greg Abbott today released a statement as Texas achieves a new record-low unemployment rate of 3.7 percent, the lowest level since the state unemployment data series began in January 1976, with 32,300 new jobs added in October and the largest over-the-year gain in the nation of 384,800 jobs.

"Texas continues to lead the nation in job and business growth, and as the result of our booming economy, unemployment numbers have fallen to a new record-low," said Governor Abbott. "This is not by accident -- lowering taxes, removing regulatory barriers, and investing in our workforce and education system are the key to our successes. As Governor, I remain committed to ensuring that Texas stays the most prosperous state in the nation."
