There is a critical window of time in early childhood education leading up to the pivotal third grade year. If a child is not reading on level by third-grade, the statistics are profound that predict the limitations on that child's future. We must resource our schools properly to make sure that every student is equipped for success with an emphasis on reading excellence, that pays dividends in every subject. Additionally, social studies has been dropped significantly in priority with curriculum goals, and I believe that many of our community crisis' have arisen as a result. A better understanding of people and culture is essential to a healthier and more respectful society. Social Studies needs a comeback in Georgia's public schools.
