Issue Position: Article V Convention of States

Issue Position

There is a growing chorus throughout Texas and the rest of the country calling for an Article V Convention of States to consider possible changes to the U.S. Constitution in an effort to curb federal intrusion into the rights of the states.

Dr. Stucky co-sponsored Senate Joint Resolution 2 which expresses Texas' commitment to this idea. It is far too early in the process to tell if this idea will receive enough support from other states to actually make a convention a reality. Regardless, Dr. Stucky believes the rule of law must be preserved, and as it currently stands the federal government too often ignores the Constitution and overreaches its legal authority.
