Rosen Visits the Learning Center, Touts Recent Introduction of Her Bipartisan Legislation to Strengthen Cybersecurity Workforce

Today, Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03), member of the Congressional Cybersecurity Caucus, visited The Learning Center Las Vegas and touted the recent introduction of her bipartisan Cyber Ready Workforce Act, which would establish a grant program within the Department of Labor to support the creation, implementation, and expansion of registered apprenticeship programs in cybersecurity. The Learning Center, which has endorsed the bill, provides training, certification, and team skills development in all areas of information technology and cybersecurity to the Las Vegas valley and partners with tech world leaders to determine tailor-made cyber education strategies for every type of organization.

"Cybersecurity continues to be an issue of great national concern, and training our workforce with the skills to join this field will be key to protecting ourselves from future threats," said Rosen. "My bipartisan legislation will help mentor and train professionals in cybersecurity so that we can create a skilled and capable workforce in Nevada to bolster our nation's cybersecurity infrastructure."

BACKGROUND: The Cyber Ready Workforce Act would establish a grant program within the Department of Labor to support the creation, implementation, and expansion of registered apprenticeship programs in cybersecurity. The legislation is modeled after Nevada's first in-state cybersecurity apprenticeship program, which was approved by the State Apprenticeship Council in May of 2018. The Learning Center serves as the program sponsor for this new cybersecurity apprenticeship program. Support services provided to apprentices may include career counseling, mentorship, and assistance with transportation, housing, and childcare costs.
