Representative Knute Buehler held a press conference today calling on Governor Kate Brown to release the report cards for Oregon schools.

"Parents shouldn't have to wait until after the election for these report cards and our kids shouldn't have to wait four more years for a governor who will lead. We have the 3rd worst graduation rates, mediocre test results and lingering outcome disparities. What bad news is she hiding?" said Buehler.

The Oregonian reported yesterday that the Department of Education has finished report cards on schools and delivered them to districts weeks ago. The ratings were supposed to be released on October 25, but Brown's administration instructed districts to not release the results until after the election.

Shortly after Buehler announced his press conference, Brown's administration called one of their own and reversed their original decision to hide the reports.

"It is shameful that it took news coverage and political pressure from her opponent for Governor Brown to release this information. Governor Brown should stop putting her political ambitions ahead of Oregon students and parents. I am glad she decided to reverse this decision. It's the right thing to do," Buehler said.
