Grassley Statement on Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting

Statement

Date: Oct. 27, 2018
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, made the following statement regarding the tragic shooting that occurred earlier today in a Pittsburgh synagogue.

"Today's craven and despicable attack on our fellow Americans at a place of worship in Pittsburgh was truly an act of evil. Barbara and I extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends and communities affected. There can be no place for intolerance, bigotry or violence in our society. America is built on a foundation of tolerance, community and religious freedom. We must continue to be guided by these principles, especially in the face of hate.

"We are grateful for the first responders and good Samaritans who came to the aid of those in need. Justice should be sound and swift."
