Senator Hassan Visits Milpower Source, Discusses Efforts to Support Innovative New Hampshire Businesses

Senator Maggie Hassan today visited Milpower Source, a military power supply technology company, to discuss her efforts to support New Hampshire's innovative businesses and ensure that they have the highly skilled workforce they need to thrive. The Senator also highlighted that Congress funded the Defense Department on time this year for the first time in a decade, and how important that is to our national defense and innovative defense contractors.

"I appreciated the opportunity to see firsthand how Milpower is developing innovative products that bolster our national security and create jobs here in New Hampshire," Senator Hassan said. "Job-creating businesses, such as Milpower, are struggling to fill positions that require highly skilled workers. In response to this workforce shortage, I have been focused on passing legislation that will close the skills gap and help more hard-working Granite Staters get the support they need to enter -- and remain -- in the workforce."

As part of her efforts to expand middle class opportunity and ensure that innovative businesses in New Hampshire have the strong workforce they need to thrive, Senator Hassan introduced the Gateway to Careers Act earlier this year. The bill would support individuals who are unemployed or underemployed by strengthening job training and removing barriers that prevent them from completing a degree or credential program and succeeding in the workforce, including housing, mental health and substance use disorder treatment, assistance in obtaining health insurance coverage, career counseling, childcare, and transportation.
