U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn) today released the following statement on the next steps in Judge Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation process:

"The FBI investigation ordered by President Trump will be the 7th time the FBI has looked into Judge Kavanaugh's background and past. The Judge said he has no problem with an FBI investigation and I have no problem with one, but I don't need one to make my decision. There have already been six FBI background checks since the alleged incident, and everyone who was at the alleged incident says it didn't happen and they've sworn to that. Joe Biden has reminded us that the FBI does not reach conclusions, but hopefully a new report will help us reach a consensus."
