Republican Senators on the Senate Judiciary Committee are moving to rush through a hearing with Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Judge Brett Kavanaugh days after allegations became public that Kavanagh assaulted Ford while the two were in high school. Congressional Candidate Susan Wild released the following statement in response, imploring Senators to allow due process and to protect Dr. Ford from the threats and harassment she's faced since speaking out publicly:

"Dr. Christine Blasey Ford is incredibly courageous to have come forward with her story in the midst of a heated and politicized Supreme Court nomination battle. I implore Senators on the Judiciary Committee to work with Dr. Ford, to ensure that these accusations are thoroughly investigated, and to ensure that the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court is thoroughly vetted in every way possible. The country is watching as those in Washington react to sexual assault allegations. We must assure our next generations that sexual misconduct will not be tolerated in any circumstance, that all victims will be heard, and that their allegations will not be taken lightly."
