Steve is a recognized leader in the Legislature for his work to pass paid family leave, expand workforce development, support apprenticeship training programs, and create living wage jobs and policies that support all families, including immigrants and refugees. He helped create jobs in our district by securing funding for Wapato Lake Restoration, South Tacoma Star Center, Pierce County Skill Center, and Cross Park development. He also helped secure transportation investments, including a link between the Port of Tacoma & Highway 167 and I-5 JBLM congestion relief. In the last session, he voted to reduce property taxes and expand the senior property tax exemption and currently coordinates a bipartisan Pierce County delegation to reduce car tab fees.
